Welcome! My name is Francieli Sufredini, and I am a Brazilian clinical psychologist with 17 years of experience working with children, adults, and families. I provide counselling sessions to individuals and couples, and also psychological assessment (online or in the CBD/Sydney). Spoken languages are English and Portuguese.
My personal style as a therapist combines a warm, empathetic approach, with a touch of humour and spontaneity. In my therapy space, being "different" is not a flaw but a strength. I truly enjoy working with diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, and neurodiverse minds (yes, your neuroatypical brain is more than welcome here!). LGBTQ+ clients are warmly welcomed and affirmed: this is a safe and inclusive space where your identity is not only respected, but also celebrated, as it should always be.
I hold a Bachelor and a Master in Psychology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), and a PhD in Health from the University of Technology Sydney. My academic work is dedicated to generating evidence-based insights on how best to support mothers during challenging periods in their lives. For my master's degree, I explored the relational dynamics of families affected by child sexual abuse, interviewing mothers whose children had been victims of CSA. For my PhD, I conducted a mixed-methods study investigating the relationship between social support, depression, and anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
With additional training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2), and Family Systems Therapy / Narrative Therapy (Familiare Institute), I can help individuals, families, and couples going through lifespan transitions such as parenthood, marriage, separation, divorce, diseases, loss, and grief. I also have training and extensive experience with trauma and domestic violence.
Counselling: my areas of interest are depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, abuse/violence, OCD, stress, burnout, ADHD, and perinatal psychology.
Psychometric assessment: family violence provisions visa applicants under migration legislation.
I believe that therapy should be accessible and affordable for anyone in need. For this reason, I keep my fees below the Australian Psychological Society's current recommended rate.
2025 fees:
Individual therapy (50 min - 1 hour): AUD 240
Couples and family therapy (1h 15min): AUD 300
Medicare rebate ($141.85) is available for those who have a current Mental Health Care Plan (up to 10 sessions per calendar year).
The passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is a perennial plant with documented therapeutic properties, native to the southeastern United States and Central and South America. The literature data suggest that the passionflower itself, as well as its preparations, helps reduce stress and can therefore be helpful in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depression (Janda et al., 2020).
